My 7 yr old has a yeast infection and I have heard that you can either put baking powder or baking soda in the bath water and it tends to sooth the area any suggestions would help

Remedies for a yeast infection in a 24 month baby girl?
My niece went to the doctor about a week an a half ago and was prescribed Nystatin for a yeast infection. She first had it only on her privates but now it has spread on the sides of her legs. The medication hasn’t seemed to be working well. Her mother and I change her diaper often and spread the cream all over down there each time.

I have heard that soaking her in warm water with baking soda might help bring down the irritation.

    Any other recommendations?

      Mom of 2 is right!

My son had a yeast infection just sprout out of nowhere, the most horrible thing you have ever seen.. and worse for a kid that never gets rashes at all!

What I have been doing, Lamisil AF (the powder)~ (yes, the stuff for athletes foot!) and Vagisil cream (for the discomfort on the labia during a yeast infection, comes with the vaginal suppositories.) They both have the same active ingredient!

My son is 2 and his rash came on over a 2night/3 day period.. now 2 days after knowing what it was the rash is going away. Which is saying something because it was an awful red and very swollen!

I apply the cream and powder together 4-5 times a day including when he goes to bed. The diaper changes between there I put plain yogurt on the rash. (so I am alternating between medication and yogurt).

The Yogurt has a soothing effect as well as naturally takes care of yeast growth.

(Believe me, I wish I knew all this with my daughter!)

*I also found that Nystatin doesn’t work very quickly and for some people not at all!

Poor baby I know it’s awful!~ I hope it starts going away soon!

Don’t use corn starch with a yeast infection! (I didn’t know this either) but it will make the yeast infection worse. Apparently it is ideal for yeast growth. (Again, something I wish I had known sooner, because I used it on my daughter often!)

Has anyone ever tried the baking soda DRINK to heal yeast infections?
1 tps of baking soda, and 8oz of water?

Did it work? How many times did you have to drink it? How long did it take to work?

If you want to get rid of a yeast infection go for acidophilus. It will be better than any cream or treatment a doc will give you (actually had a doctor tell me about it when nothing he could proscribe worked) You can eat yogurt and get supplement capsules (you can also apply plain yogurt right to the …area affected) drinking baking soda will lower your ph ..which will only encourage yeast to grow faster.

How much of what do I need to put in…and how long? My mom is supposed to help me with this, but she’s at work.

I would wait. Ask her to pick you up some Monistat and 100% cranberry juice on the way home. Feel better.
