How To Cure An Ear Infection With Home Remedies
Author: Brooks Carver
Before we begin talking about the cure of ear infections remember it is always important to identify the symptoms and know what you are dealing with before trying any treatment. I have suffered from ear infections since I was very little and now unfortunately, both of my children have already had multiple infections. We were tired of making numerous trips to the doctor each month so my grandmother gave me some of her home remedies that have worked like a charm! We have tried everything and these are among the best treatments that I have personally tried! Needless to say we have not been back to the doctor for treatment of an ear infection.
Garlic and Olive Oil Treatment.
You are going to need 4 Large Tablespoons of garlic. Some water some olive oil enough to fully cover the bottom of a sauce pan chop up some onion let it simmer (stir occasionally) until the garlic looks chunky and dry then strain the juice into a bowl or cup and use an eye dropper or syringe and put it into your ear, hold your head sideways for about 5-10 min. Then tilt your head and let the remaining juice come out. You can also place a cotton ball in the ear.
Lemon Juice Treatment
For really bad ear aches/infections squeeze lemon juice in your ear, keep it in for a few seconds, then let it drain out. I usually place a towel or cotton ball over the ear because this gets pretty sticky! The lemon helps to change the Ph levels in your ear. The bacteria is a base, and if you add the lemon, which is an acid, it neutralizes the Ph levels in your ear so that the bacteria cannot live in there!
Warm grated onion slightly in microwave, and drop a few drops of juice into ear with dropper. I used this with both my children when they were infants and it worked immediately! The stopped crying and were able to sleep!
Garlic, Oil and Colloidal Silver Treatment
Put few drops of garlic juice into the infected ear. Use blow dryer from about 12 to 15 inches from your head, this will remove any water trapped in the Eustachian tube. Put some olive oil on the warm spoon; put 2 to 3 drops of this in each ear. Put few drops of lobelia extract into the infected ear and rub it gently. Wash your ear using colloidal silver, it is a natural antibiotic. Slightly warm one teaspoon of juice of the mango leaf and put it into the infected ear drop by drop.
Steam Facial Treatment
Another great home remedy for ear infections involves draping a towel over the head and sitting over a bowl containing hot steaming water and essential oils. There are more then one type of oils that will benefit you, including ginger, peppermint, and eucalyptus. This home remedy is called a steam facial and can help clear up congestion and other symptoms that can aggravate ear infections.
Frequently Asked Questions
When using vinegar and water to cure a yeast infection in my dogs ear, does it have to be apple cider vinegar?
I have looked into homeopathic remedies for my dogs ear infection and many say apple cider vinegar and water. Does it have to be apple cider vinegar or will white vinegar be ok to use?
Don't use just vinegar, start with this, if it doesn't work try the raw apple cider vinegar. NOT white vinegar, that won't work.
Use this --
BLUE POWER EAR SOLUTION
16 Oz. Isopropyl Alcohol
4 Tablespoons Boric Acid Powder
16 Drops Gentian Violet Solution 1%
Mix together in alcohol bottle and shake well.
You will also need to shake solution every time you use it to disperse the Boric Acid Powder.
TREATMENT: Evaluate condition of ears before treating and if very inflamed and sore do not attempt to pull hair or clean out ear at all.
Wait until inflammation has subsided which will be about 2 days.
Shake the bottle each time before using.
Put cotton balls or similiar absorbent material under the ear.
Flood the ear with solution, (gently squirt bottle), massage gently to the count of 60, wipe with a tissue.
Flood again on first treatment, wipe with a tissue, and leave alone without massage.
The dog will shake out the excess which can be wiped with a tissue, cotton ball, etc as the Gentian Violet does stain fabrics.
The SCHEDULE of treatment is as follows:
Treat 2x per day for the first week to two weeks depending upon severity of ears
Treat 1x per day for the next 1-2 weeks
Treat 1x per month (or even less frequently, depending on the dog)
All of these ingredients should be available at a pharmacy.
The Boric Acid Powder soothes the ear.
The Gentian Violet Solution is an anti-infection agent.
The solution appears to work well on any and all ear problems from mites to wax to canker.
After the 2nd or 3rd day you can clean out the ear with a Q-tip or cotton balls.
The success rate for this treatment is 95-99%.
If an infection seems to be remaining in the treated ear after the above course of treatment, you may also have some Pseudomonas bacteria in the site.
This can be eradicated by using a gentle flush of raw apple cider vinegar and water(warm)
Use 2 Tablespoons of vinegar to one cup of water, 2 x per week.
They have found the Blue Powder Solution to be effective for treating fungus-type infections on the feet and elsewhere on the dog, for cuts on dogs or people, and for hot spots.
Remember it is for external use only ..so be careful not to get into the eyes.
How do u cure yeast infection in dogs ears naturally?
If you clean the ears with rubbing alcohol 3x a day it will kill the active yeast. Yeast is recurrent, so you have to clean them once a week or so to prevent regrowth. Some people use an alcohol/vinegar combo. I think the alcohol works better. Just lie the dog on her side, pour a capful into her ear canal, make her lie a moment then let it run out onto a tissue. Do the other side the same way. It will clear up yeast within a week or less.
It doesn't help mites. but any monthly flea spot on or monthly heartguard prevents mites.

If your dog has a yeast infection in it's ear, it needs antibiotics.
Sometimes ear infections will recur after successful treatment. Primary inhalant or food allergies causing secondary ear infections should be considered. But usually, with proper treatment, a yeast infection can be cleared up within two weeks.
I have found that chronic ear infections ususally have some underlying cause.I don't know if your mixed pup is known to have an anatomy problem that contributes to ear infections, but that is always a possiblity. It is best to purchase a product from your veterinarian to clean out your dogs ears prior to placing the prescribed antibiotic drops in the ears, such as Epi-Otic. I have found that some medications don't work well in the presence of a lot of dirt or discharge. Keeping the hair plucked out of the ears also helps keeping the ears cleaner.
how to cure yeast infection in dogs?
she is three year old chihuahua and has yeast in her ears and has bad smell and has skin problem
Can someone tell me the home remedy for curing yeast infection in a dogs ears?
Don't think that yeast is common in a dogs ears. Yeast usually happens in warm moist areas. Anyway yeast prefer alkaline environments. Dilute vinegar, 1/2 cup to a quart of water, can be put on a washcloth and the ears wiped out several times per day. If no help, see the vet. Would not use the creams for human skin in a dogs ear.
